Snowboard size calculator

Enter your height, weight, how you ride and your boot size. SnowboardSizeCalc starts from the classic rule that a board should stand roughly between your chin and nose (about 88% of your height), then adjusts for park, all-mountain or powder riding, for your ability and for your weight compared with a typical weight for your height.

Board length and width

Saved you some time? Leave a tip, entirely optional.

A 5′10″, 170 lb intermediate all-mountain rider comes out at a 157 cm board, with 155–159 cm as the range to shop in.

How the snowboard size calculator works

SnowboardSizeCalc converts your height to centimetres and multiplies it by 0.88 (0.83 for riders under 150 cm), which puts the nose of the board between your chin and nose. It then adds the riding-style adjustment (park −3 cm, all-mountain 0, freeride +4 cm) and the ability adjustment (beginner −2 cm, advanced +2 cm). Finally it compares your weight with a typical weight for your height and moves the length 1 cm for every full 5 kg of difference, up to 6 cm. The range shown is ±2 cm.

Every brand and model has its own size chart and rider weight range, and board shape (camber, rocker, volume-shifted) changes how long a board rides. Use this as a starting point, and ask a shop to check boot overhang with your bindings.

    Frequently asked questions

What size snowboard do I need for my height?

Roughly 88% of your height in cm: about 141 cm at 5′3″, 150 cm at 5′7″, 157 cm at 5′10″ and 163 cm at 6′1″, before adjusting for weight and style.

Is weight or height more important for snowboard size?

Weight. The board has to flex under you, so makers list a rider weight range for each length. Use height to get close, then check the weight range.

Should a beginner get a shorter snowboard?

Yes, a few centimetres shorter is easier to turn and control while learning.

    Is SnowboardSizeCalc free?

Yes, with no sign-up or ads, and your numbers stay in your browser.

    Are the results exact?

No. They are a starting point. Always check the rider weight range in the manufacturer’s size chart.
